Taipei Universiade – Taiwan

Case Study
Taipei Universiade – Taiwan

We provided Catering Management Consultancy Services for the Taipei City Council for the 2017 Taipei Universiade.

Universiade is the world’s leading international multi-sport event for university students. Taipei hosted the 2017 summer edition, which ran for two weeks and attracted over 10,700 athletes and delegates from 140 countries.

Working closely with the Organising Committee, our scope included:

  • Athlete Village Dining Hall Design (the kitchen and dining hall were 10,500 sq. metres and provided 3500 seats)
  • Specification of the Catering Brief and Assistance with Caterer Appointment
  • Workforce Catering
  • A range of on-venue requirements at the 37 competition venues such as hospitality lounges and athlete venue meal boxes

We developed an intern program for 750 Taiwanese University students to work on the event, thereby creating an outstanding legacy for the Taiwanese Hospitality Sector.

Over a two week period, IVG oversaw the serving of over 319,000 meals to athletes and delegates. At operational peak this was around 25,000 meals per day. We also oversaw the provision of meals to over 1,000 games staff. With a view to sourcing local produce and services, we managed 44 mainly local suppliers who provided over 1,200 ingredients to the operation.
